  3. OBJECTIVE AND SCOPE OF THE SESSION

This session is designed to explore the theoretical frameworks and technological innovations that are redefining the landscape of road infrastructure maintenance and traffic operation management. The objective is to foster a collaborative discourse on the integration of intelligent systems to enhance road safety, efficiency, and sustainability.
The session aims to provide a platform for experts to discuss the latest advancements in technology that are crucial for the future of road infrastructure. It seeks to address how these technologies can be leveraged to optimize maintenance operations and traffic management, reducing human intervention while improving efficiency and productivity.

    Scope:

    • Sensors and IoT: Examination of sensor technology and the Internet of Things (IoT) for real-time data collection on road conditions and traffic flow.
    • Data Analytics and Spatiotemporal Information: Utilization of data analytics to predict maintenance needs and optimize traffic patterns, and explore advancements in spatiotemporal information collection, processing, and analysis. Discuss applications in seamless navigation, urban planning, environmental monitoring, and emergency response.
    • Machine Learning: Application of machine learning to process complex data sets for improved decision-making in road management.
    • Large Model and Generative Large Model applied in Road: Exploration of Large Model and Generative Large Model for infrastructure inspection and damage prediction.
    • Connected Vehicles: Analysis of vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communication technologies for enhancing traffic operations.
    • Digital Twin and Simulation: Use of Digital Twin and virtual environments to simulate traffic scenarios and maintenance strategies.
    • Sustainability: Strategies for implementing sustainable practices in road maintenance and operations.
    • Policy and Standards: Review of policies and standards that govern the implementation of intelligent technologies in road infrastructure under different operational environments and cross-borders.
